[ARCHIVED] Health Department Encourages Residents To Be Extra Cautious Amid Record Number Of COVID-19 Cases

COVID-19 Wear Your Mask

The Kane County Health Department is reporting that one in five residents being tested for COVID-19 are positive. Kane County is averaging more than 900 new COVID-19 cases per day over the past week, while hospitalizations due to the pandemic have more than doubled over the past month.

Health officials are letting residents know the potential to come into contact with someone with COVID-19 is higher than it has ever been and to be careful in making decisions to be around others during the next few weeks. People should continue to wear a mask, practice social distancing and get vaccinated.

The Kane County Health Department continues to offer a full range of COVID-19 vaccines for those 5 and older at the Kane Vax Hub in Batavia. Check KaneVax.org for availability.

In addition, the health department has identified more than 90 Kane County community partners that also provide the COVID-19 vaccine. An updated list is available online on the health department's website.

Businesses and community organizations can request a vaccination clinic at their site through the Illinois Department of Public Health.

For additional information and current updates about COVID-19, visit the Kane County Health Department's website or call the health department at 630-208-3801 and select the COVID-19 line.
