The Kane County Division of Transportation is planning an intersection improvement project at Western Avenue and Fabyan Parkway in Geneva. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, May 13 and will be finished by late fall 2024, weather permitting.
Work will include earth excavation, roadway reconstruction, hot mix asphalt pavement, storm sewer facilities, drainage structures, and landscape restoration. The County also will reconstruct the existing multi-use path along the south side of Fabyan Parkway from Western Avenue to Route 31.
Operations will run primarily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Construction will begin on the south side of the intersection and proceed to the north side. Kane County has stressed the roadways will remain open, but lane closures and shifting traffic patterns will be required. During portions of the project, Fabyan Parkway will be reduced to one lane in each direction in the construction zone. Flaggers will be present at times to direct traffic. Additionally, the lane widths on Western Avenue will be decreased to 10 feet in each direction, and the left turn lane will be removed during construction.
