[ARCHIVED] Kane County To Start Aspahlt Rejuvenator Project

KDOT Road Construction

Kane County will begin applying an asphalt sealer/rejuvenator on nine highways that have been resurfaced within the last two years, starting the week of July 15, weather permitting.

Two project areas are located in Geneva, including:

  • Randall Road from Main Street in Batavia to 250 feet north of Keslinger/Kaneville roads; and
  • Fabyan Parkway from 875 feet west of Western Avenue to Main Street.

The process will involve applying the rejuvenator liquid, allowing the liquid to cure, placing sand on the treated roads for traction, and then sweeping up the excess material. Pavement preservation techniques utilize lower-cost maintenance improvements conducted early in the life cycle of the asphalt pavement by reducing the water penetration that leads to freeze/thaw damage and preventing oxidation of the asphalt material.

Work is expected to occur from the south end of the county progressing north. Construction work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday for about three to four weeks, weather permitting.

The above-mentioned roads will remain open during treatment, but will be reduced to one lane of travel using flaggers and temporary daily lane closures.
