[ARCHIVED] Kane County Hosting Recycling, Document Shredding Event

The Kane County Recycles Event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 14 at 540 S. Randall Road, St. Charles.

Recycle Electronics such as computers, keyboards, laptops, printers, televisions (any size or age), stereos, cell phones, microwaves, Christmas lights, and more. Crews will unload your vehicle. A complete list of accepted items, and more information can be found at the link below.

The County also will take books of any age and condition for reuse or recycling.

Liquid Latex Paint is the only item that has a recycling fee per container, payable by the resident with cash or check. It is $2 per pint, $3.50 per gallon, and $10 per 5-gallon bucket. Latex paint is non-toxic but difficult to dispose of normally because it has to dry it out before placing it in your landfill trash. However, it can be easily recycled into new products with no drying out necessary! No oil based products will be accepted.

Bring confidential documents in paper bags or boxes to be shredded. Limit is four boxes. The document shredding is for residents only, and no business documents will be accepted.

The County does not accept hazardous waste or large household appliances like washers and refrigerators.

For more information, contact Kane County Recycling Coordinator Jennifer Jarland at 630-208-3841 or email recycle@countyofkane.org.
