[ARCHIVED] Man To Be Charged Following Fatal Domestic Incident Dec. 26

Police News - New Car

Geneva Police responded to a fatal domestic violence 911 call at 8 p.m. Dec. 26 in the 2700 block of Emma’s Way.

Police officers responding to the call found two victims, who were pronounced deceased after being taken to area hospitals. The incident was isolated to the home, and the man was taken into custody at the scene.

Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser and Geneva Chief of Police Eric Passarelli announced that four counts of first-degree murder, a class M felony have been authorized against the man.

The man is being detained pending the filing of charges and first appearance in court, where the State's Attorney’s Office intends to file a petition to deny pretrial release. Further updates will be provided once charges are filed and a detention hearing is held.

State’s Attorney Mosser and Police Chief Passarelli would like to thank the St. Charles Police Department, Batavia Police Department, Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Geneva Fire Department and Geneva Emergency Management for their assistance with the initial response, and the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force for its help with the investigation.

The charges against the defendant are not proof of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
