The Kautz Road reconstruction and widening project is a joint venture between the City of Geneva and St. Charles. Construction will occur from Swenson Avenue in St. Charles to just north of State Street (Route 38) in Geneva. The project will replace failing pavement, enhance freight mobility, mitigate drainage issues, complete trail connectivity, improve safety measures, and support economic development in the area
Construction started in 2024 and is expected to be completed in spring 2025.
May 15 Update
After breaking for the winter, work is slowly resuming along the Kautz Road corridor, with efforts being directed to parkway restoration and the bike trail.
The contractor expects to schedule the final roadway resurfacing sometime within the next two weeks, weather permitting. The City will share more information when it is made available.
During the upcoming construction, there will be intermittent lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. The roadway will remain open to traffic, but motorists should expect potential delays.
