[ARCHIVED] Fiber Cable Damage Impacts Phone, Internet Service At 3 Geneva Schools

A construction crew accidentally cut through underground fiber optic cables May 13 while working on the Randall Road traffic signalization project near Christina Lane.

The incident has disrupted phone and Internet service at Geneva Middle School North, Geneva Middle School South and Fabyan Elementary School, according to Geneva Community Unit School District 304.

Crews still are assessing damage to the fiber cables, but a preliminary estimate for service restoration could be between two to four days.

The City will provide repair updates as more information becomes available. Parents should stay tuned to District 304 on Facebook, Twitter and 304Connects for communication updates at the impacted schools.
