[ARCHIVED] Union Pacific Bridge Work To Close Route 31 Sept. 21-25

A segment of Route 31 in Geneva will be closed Monday to Friday, Sept. 21 to 25 as Union Pacific makes repairs to the railroad overpass bridge.

Route 31 will be shut down in both directions near the bridge from 8 a.m. Sept. 21 until 6 p.m. Sept. 25, weather permitting.

Local traffic heading north on Route 31 toward downtown Geneva can take Third Street and turn east on Fulton Street to return to Route 31. The directions will be vice-versa for those driving south on Route 31.

The Illinois Department of Transportation will be detouring trucks and non-local traffic on Route 31 by utilizing Fabyan Parkway, Route 25 and State Street (Route 38).

Union Pacific’s construction hours will be between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

The City’s daily fee commuter parking lot located off of Route 31 just south of the railroad tracks will remain open during the project.
