[ARCHIVED] ComEd Schedules Tree Trimming For December

Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) has notified the City it intends to perform tree trimming activities near its power lines in Geneva during December.

The vegetation management program will take place primarily south of Fargo Boulevard between Dunstan Road and Western Avenue (see map). While the City of Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, ComEd does have power lines and infrastructure that runs through Geneva.

According to ComEd, this maintenance program helps ensure electric reliability since tree contact with tree branches is a leading cause of power outages. ComEd has notified impacted property owners of this upcoming work taking place in their neighborhood.

For more information about the tree pruning operations along power lines, read ComEd's notification letter to the City or visit the company's website.
