The community and visitors look forward to Geneva festivals year after year. Knowing that first thought during these uncertain times is the health and safety of those who may attend a festival, the Board of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Swedish Days festival due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This is the first time in almost 70 years that the Chamber has had to take such action. The event was scheduled to be held June 23-28 this year.
“While this decision was difficult, we felt that it is for the safety of our Swedish Days visitors and participants. The advanced notice of this cancellation is a necessity at this time because so many of the details need to be finalized over the next few weeks,” said Paula Schmidt, President of Geneva Chamber of Commerce. “Everyone has been very understanding and appreciative. We are definitely all in this together. Our greatest assets are our people in Geneva and around Geneva. We must keep them healthy and safe.”
“We are exploring options to schedule other, smaller events throughout the summer and will try to incorporate favorite elements from Swedish Days into those events," said Laura Rush, Communications Manager of Geneva Chamber of Commerce. "More information will be released when finalized.”
Updates on all festivals may be found on the Chamber’s website.
