[ARCHIVED] City To Conduct Search For Public Works Director

The City of Geneva will be searching for a new leader to head up its Public Works Department after current director Dan Dinges submitted his resignation effective Thursday, June 19.

Dinges, who has worked with the City for nearly 15 years, has accepted the Public Works director position with the Village of Bartlett.

“The City is grateful for Dan’s service to our citizens and community, as well as for the solid leadership that has contributed to our Public Works Department and senior management team,” City Administrator Mary McKittrick said. “Bartlett is a larger community that presents new challenges and opportunities for Dan, and we wish him the best in this next chapter of his career.”

Dinges started working in Geneva in 1999 as a civil engineer and was promoted shortly thereafter to Assistant Director of Public Works/City Engineer. In 2006, Dinges was promoted to Director of the Public Works Department.

City Engineer/Assistant Director of Public Works Brian Schiber will lead the department on an interim basis. The City’s Public Works Department is comprised of 54 employees working in the Street, Electric, Water and Engineering divisions.

The City has posted a recruitment profile and job description for the position on the City’s website at www.geneva.il.us. The application deadline is Thursday, June 26. City officials hope to have the position filled by late summer.
