Geneva Police officers will be putting extra emphasis on driving safety as part of its holiday enforcement detail this weekend.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a nonprofit dedicated to minimizing losses from auto accidents, the Fourth of July is the deadliest day of the year on the road. The main reasons for Independence Day accidents can be attributed to speeding, distracted driving, aggressive driving and DUIs, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Geneva Police will have officers heavily focused on these noted violations throughout the holiday weekend.
The City of Geneva wishes residents and visitors a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend.
