[ARCHIVED] Help Geneva Restore Local State Funding

Illinois Capitol

Did you know - Until 2011, 10% of Illinois total income tax revenue came back to municipalities through the Local Government Distributive Fund (LGDF) to pay for critical services?

LGDF is a portion of Illinois income taxes paid by residents and businesses that are collected by the State of Illinois and redistributed back to municipalities. Today, the State only gives about 6% back to communities like Geneva.

LGDF funds are used for core City services such as public safety, road repairs and maintenance, snow removal, flood prevention, and more.

State legislators have an opportunity to restore LGDF to the 10% funding level in 2022 that can reduce a municipalities reliance on property taxes without increasing income taxes for residents and businesses. Contact your local state representatives to make your voice heard.
