The Geneva flag at City Hall has been lowered to half-staff in memory of Ann Burns, 81, who died May 3.

Mrs. Burns is the mother of Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns. After moving to Geneva in 1974, she invested her time volunteering at local schools, the Geneva Park District, the City of Geneva, and Northwestern Medicine's Delnor Hospital. She and her husband, John, helped with local referendum efforts, co-founded the Geneva Vikings All Sports Boosters Club, and served on the Geneva High School Prom & Post Prom Committee. Mrs. Burns also was a member of the City's Planning Commission.
