[ARCHIVED] Geneva Police Give Update On Suspicious Death Investigation

Police News - New Car

A man who was deemed a person of interest in the May 4 suspicious death investigation of a 43-year-old Geneva woman has been released from police custody.

The Geneva Police Department, with concurrence from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, released the man from Kane County Jail at 6:20 p.m. May 6. No charges have been filed in the case, which remains under investigation by Geneva Police, the Kane County Major Crimes Task Force, and the Kane County Coroner’s Office.

Following a May 6 autopsy, the Kane County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased woman as Jodi Grzeda-Anderson. The preliminary cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head. Toxicology reports still are pending.

A female relative living in the Chicago area called Geneva Police at 8:02 p.m. May 4 to report Grzeda-Anderson as possibly missing since 5 a.m. May 3. Geneva and St. Charles police responded to conduct a well-being check at a home in the 700 block of McKinley Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers met with a male family member, who was taken into custody that evening as a person of interest. Officers subsequently checked the home’s property and found Grzeda-Anderson’s body.

Geneva Police do not believe there is any present danger to the general public. Future updates may be provided as more details become available. Geneva Police request anyone with information about the incident to call the department’s Investigations Division at 630-232-4736.
