Update - June 7
Due to a pending strike by construction material suppliers, the City of Geneva has adjusted the work schedule for the Third Street sanitary sewer system repair project.
After the sanitary infrastructure was installed June 6, northbound Third Street is being closed again June 7 from James to State streets as crews prep the area for a concrete pour this afternoon. The northbound lane is anticipated to be shut down until the morning of Friday, June 10 to allow enough time for the concrete to cure.
Northbound motorists may want to use First Street (Route 31) as an alternate route. The southbound traffic lane will remain open.
The City accelerated the schedule to make sure the roadway would be fully repaired in a timely fashion well ahead of the Swedish Days festival later this month.
The construction schedule is weather permitting. Schedule changes will be announced on the City’s website. For more information, call the Geneva Public Works Department Water Division at 630-232-1551.
