The City of Geneva is mourning the loss of former First Ward Alderman Sam Hill, 86, who died July 5.

Mr. Hill served on the City Council from 2001 to 2013. Outside the City Council, he was a member of the City's Plan Commission and was a Geneva Park District commissioner.

The Geneva City Council recognized Mr. Hill's contributions to the community and held a moment of silence in his honor at its July 5 meeting. An obituary is pending at Malone Funeral Home in Geneva.
