Original Post
The Geneva Public Works Department will be installing a water valve and a fire hydrant the week of March 20 on Third Street south of the Union Pacific-West train tracks which will require lane closures.
Both southbound lanes on Third Street will be shut down starting at 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 20 from the tracks to Cheever Avenue. A temporary traffic pattern will shift southbound Third Street motorists over into the northbound turn lane once they have crossed the tracks.
Construction will take place during daytime hours, and all lanes of traffic will be reopened late afternoon prior to the evening rush hour. The lane closures will be reimplemented on the same schedule for the next several days until the project is anticipated to be completed Thursday, March 23.
The commuter parking lot off Third Street will remain open during construction.
The project is weather permitting and may be subject to change.
