[ARCHIVED] Kane County Announces Highway Guardrail Project

KDOT Road Construction

The Kane County Division of Transportation announced guardrail removal and replacement along various roads throughout the county will begin the week of April 17, weather permitting. One of the 41 projects includes the southeast quadrant of Randall Road at the Keslinger/Kaneville Road intersection in Geneva.

This work is part of the Kane County Guardrail Improvement Program and is anticipated to begin on the north side of the county working towards the south until all work is complete. The work shall include the replacement of the guardrail, shoulder widening, and new hot-mix asphalt shoulder to improve safety on county highways as indicated on the attached map. The County’s typical process is to remove and replace old and/or outdated guardrails to achieve a high level of safety for the motoring public. The work is anticipated to be completed by the end of July, weather dependent.

Temporary daily lane closures on the roads under construction will be required from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to safely accomplish this work. Temporary daily lane closures are scheduled to start in the north end of the county, working their way south until all identified guardrail is replaced or repaired. The proposed north-to-south progression may change as weather impacts may dictate alternate working sequences. Temporary flagger control of intersections will be required along the entire route in order to accomplish the required work safely.
