[ARCHIVED] Police Search For Delnor Hospital Lockdown Suspect

Justin B. Patzer

Geneva Police are continuing to ask for the public’s assistance in tracking down an armed man that prompted a lockdown of the Delnor Hospital campus Jan. 27.

Police were dispatched at 9:35 a.m. to the hospital, 300 S. Randall Road, in reference to a man allegedly running through a hospital brandishing a knife. The man had been visiting a relative at the hospital when he allegedly attempted to choke the relative, pulled out a knife and made threats of violence. The man then fled the hospital at about 9:45 a.m., and no knife injuries were reported.

The hospital campus and attached buildings were placed on lockdown and searched. Through the investigation, it was later determined the man had left the campus in a red 2004 Dodge Caravan bearing Illinois registration P769405. The minivan had some front end damage to front passenger side.

During the event, Williamsburg and Heartland schools were placed on a soft lockdown, which were lifted around 11:30 a.m.

Police are searching for Justin B. Patzer, 31, of Campton Hills in connection with the incident. He is described as being 5 feet, 9 inches tall; 250 pounds, with closely shaved brown hair, blue eyes (however, both eyes appear to be blackened by an unknown reason); and was last seen wearing a grayish/green shirt with blue jeans.

The Geneva Police Department is investigating all leads in an attempt to locate Patzer. Charges are pending. At this time, there is no further information available.

People with tips on this case are encouraged to call the Geneva Police Department at 630-232-4736.
