[ARCHIVED] No Ongoing Threat To Public Following July 1 Arrest

Police News - New Car

Geneva Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public following a disturbance July 1 on Third Street near the Geneva Train Station.

Geneva Police responded to the train station area after receiving multiple 911 calls at 12:09 p.m. for a possible active shooter situation involving a man dressed in all black wearing a ski mask and black gloves. The man was allegedly approaching cars aggressively on Third Street north of the tracks and startling motorists.

Police arrested the man at 12:12 p.m. without incident. The man did not have a gun and instead was holding a cell phone listening to loud music when he approached the vehicles.

Geneva Police is working with the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine pending charges. Geneva Police would like to thank the Kane County Sheriff’s Office for responding quickly and assisting with this active investigation.

A news release announcing the charges is expected to be released later today.
