ComEd will be trimming trees near electric lines in several locations in Geneva during November.
Trimming operations are scheduled to occur in the following areas:
- Illinois Prairie Path (east and west of Kirk Road); and
- Route 25 north of Woodward Avenue.
While the City of Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, ComEd power lines feed the City’s substations. Geneva interconnects with ComEd to allow the City to receive energy purchased from its regional service transmission provider, PJM.
ComEd states its vegetation management program helps ensure electrical reliability since tree branch contact with power lines is a leading cause of outages.
ComEd will notify affected residents about tree trimming taking place in their neighborhood. Visit the ComEd tree trimming web page for a project map and more information.
