The Kautz Road reconstruction and widening project is a joint venture between the City of Geneva and St. Charles. Construction will occur from Swenson Avenue in St. Charles to just north of State Street (Route 38) in Geneva. The project will replace failing pavement, enhance freight mobility, mitigate drainage issues, complete trail connectivity, improve safety measures, and support economic development in the area.
Construction started in June 2024 and is expected to be completed in spring 2025.
Dec. 3 Update
The City of Geneva is anticipating construction operations on Kautz Road will conclude for the winter season during the week of Dec. 9.
Crews are laying a final binder application the week of Dec. 2 and plan to install temporary pavement markings the following week. Two traffic lanes and a full media will be lane-striped, but the temporary striping pattern will provide some space for plow trucks to stay away from the curb.
The final asphalt surface layer, site restoration and remaining construction items will be completed in spring 2025.
All construction activities are weather-dependent.
