ComEd will be trimming trees near electric lines in May and June, predominantly along Kirk Road, the Union Pacific-West Railway tracks, and along the Illinois Prairie Path in Geneva.
Trimming operations are scheduled to occur in mid-May and June, weather permitting, according to ComEd.
While the City of Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, ComEd power lines feed City substations. Geneva interconnects with ComEd to allow the City to receive energy purchased from its regional service transmission provider, PJM.
ComEd states its vegetation management program helps ensure electrical reliability since tree branch contact with power lines is a leading cause of outages.
ComEd will notify affected residents about tree trimming taking place in their neighborhood. Visit the ComEd tree trimming web page for a project map and more information.
