A City contractor will inspect Geneva's 2,138 wood utility poles beginning Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Osmose crews will conduct sound and boring tests and will identify communication attachments on each pole. The inspections will not disrupt electric service.

Crew members, who will be working from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays, will be wearing reflective vests with the company logo on the back. Company trucks will also be marked.

The pole inspection project is expected to be completed in four to five weeks, weather permitting.

With some utility poles located on private property, the City will be notifying those residents to schedule appointments so the contractor can perform the inspections.
