[ARCHIVED] Greater Geneva Art Guild Festival Of The Art Coming To Downtown May 30

Downtown Geneva will be brimming with creativity as part of the Greater Geneva Art Guild’s inaugural Festival of the Art Saturday, May 30.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to dusk on Campbell Street from Third to Fourth streets as well as the adjacent Kane County Courthouse lawn. The festival is inspired by Geneva’s cultural partner city Croissy-sur-Seine’s festival of the “Grenouillère.” The French town has been a source of artistic creativity, and Geneva artists hope they can follow Croissy’s long tradition of hosting art festivals.

Visitors to downtown Geneva on Friday, May 29 may notice Art Guild participants working “en plein air,” a French expression referring to the act of painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. This artwork and more will be available to purchase at the open market festival May 30.

An offshoot of the City of Geneva’s Cultural Arts Commission, the Greater Geneva Art Guild is dedicated to developing and promoting creative area artists and highlighting the significance of local original art in the community. For more information about the Guild, visit the link below.
