The Geneva flag outside City Hall has been lowered to half-staff in memory of longtime resident and Gen Hoe Restaurant owner Shee-Yee "Tony" Lee.
Mr. Lee, 78, died at his home Jan. 7.
He was born in China and came to the United States with his parents at the age 20. After marrying his wife Jenny, the couple later moved to Geneva in 1969 when they opened Gen Hoe. The restaurant continues to be one of the area's top dining spots for Chinese food drawing customers from Geneva and beyond.
Mayor Kevin Burns said the City Council will hold a moment of silence in Mr. Lee's honor at the Jan. 11 Committee of the Whole meeting. The City of Geneva expresses its condolences to the Lee family.
