[ARCHIVED] Geneva Residents Can Provide Assistance to Tornado Victims

The City of Geneva is seeking the community’s help in collecting donations for tornado victims in the City of Washington, IL.

Several tornadoes swept through Washington, located near Peoria, Nov. 17 leaving hundreds of people homeless.

The donation drop-off location will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday through Monday, Dec. 9 at 77 N. First St. in downtown Geneva.

Requested items include toiletries, Ziploc bags, toothpaste, toothbrushes, pain reliever medications, cold medicine, first aid kits, feminine products, hand sanitizer, sewing kits, baby wipes, diapers, baby formula, baby bottles, baby food, pack ‘n plays, shoes, phone chargers, water, black markers, duct tape, denture products, contact solution, incontinence products, reading glasses, plastic cups, plastic plates, plastic utensils, razors, pillows, blankets, extension cords, power strips, pet food and gift cards to chain drug stores (Walgreens, CVS, etc.)

A caravan will be delivering items to Washington on Wednesday, Dec. 11. The drop-off location will be closed during the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29.
