Kane County is offering a free pumpkin recycling event in Geneva to help reduce waste.
The recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Pushing the Envelope Farm, 1700 Averill Road.
Jack O' Lanterns, pumpkins and decorative squashes contain nutrients that can be returned to the soil when composted to help grow more healthy food.
The County reminds recycling patrons to keep the recycling zone contaminant-free, similar to food scrap composting. This means no candles, yard hair, stickers, Halloween decorations or plastic of any kind will be collected.
