[ARCHIVED] Inclement Weather Delays Geneva's Garbage Collection, Christmas Tree Pickup Schedule

Due to the large snow storm followed by dangerously cold temperatures, Geneva’s garbage collection schedule has been pushed back one day, similar to a holiday week.

Garbage will be collected Friday and Saturday, Jan. 10 and 11. The normal Thursday-Friday schedule will resume next week.

Advanced Disposal, the City’s waste hauler, also has postponed the collection of live Christmas trees, which was scheduled to start this week. Trees will now be picked up for free the weeks of Jan. 13 and Jan. 20 on people’s normal garbage collection day.

Residents must place their live tree at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on their scheduled collection day. No refuse stickers will be required for this service.

Ornaments, hooks, nails, tinsel, garland, tree stands and other hard materials should be removed from the trees prior to disposal. Trees placed in bags at the curb will not be accepted.

All wreaths and roping must be discarded with the regular trash.

For more information, call the City’s Public Works Department at 630-232-1501.
