The City of Geneva will be enhancing electric service reliability by replacing underground utility cable in four areas throughout the community starting in July.
The 2025-26 underground electric replacement program areas include:
- South Harrison Street near Spring Street – July 14 to Sept. 15
- James Street west of Ninth Street – Sept. 15 to Oct. 3
- 2000 South Batavia Avenue – To Be Announced
- James Street from Third to Fifth streets – To Be Announced
Construction dates are estimates and may be subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen factors. Landscape restoration will commence once construction is completed.
The City’s contractor, Utility Dynamics, will be installing conduit through utility easements and public right-of-way. Electrical transformers, pedestals and street lights also will be replaced.
During the latter part of each project, the contractor will energize and connect homes to the new equipment. Scheduled power outages will be required as part of this process. The City will be sending notifications in advance of any service disruption.
A project map and more details are available on the City’s website. Questions can be directed to Jennifer Hilkemann, the City’s Electric Division Manager of Distribution, Construction & Maintenance, by calling 630-232-1503 or sending an email.
