The Geneva Police Department announced downtown street closures and parking restrictions will be implemented to accommodate the Festival of the Vine, which takes place Friday to Sunday, Sept. 5-7.
The City of Geneva is serving as a presenting sponsor for Festival of the Vine. The event is centered around the historic Kane County Courthouse, 100 S. Third St. The Flavor Fare/Entertainment stage will be situated on James Street, while the Arts & Crafts show will occur on Campbell Street.
The following roadways will be closed to through traffic starting on the following mornings:
Wednesday, Sept. 3
- James Street (middle of the 300 block to Fifth Street)
- Fourth Street (middle of the 0 to 100 block to James Street)
- Parking restrictions on James and Fourth streets begin at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Saturday, Sept. 6
- Campbell Street from Third to Fourth streets
- Parking restrictions on Campbell Street begin at 11:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5.
Parking lot access to local businesses will remain open on James and Fourth streets.
Additional parking restrictions beginning late Thursday, Sept. 4 are:
- Fifth Street – both sides of the roadway from State (Route 38) to Campbell streets, plus the west side of the 200 and 300 blocks;
- James Street – six spots on the south side west of Third Street;
- 400 & 600 blocks of Campbell Street; and
- 200 & 300 blocks of Fourth Street (west side only).
Parking restrictions will be lifted after the conclusion of Festival of the Vine on Sept. 7. Road closures will remain in place until 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8.
“No Parking” signs posted on wooden stakes should not be removed since the restrictions are meant to provide a safe environment for festival patrons. Vehicles parked in restricted areas may be ticketed and/or towed. Parking within 20 feet of an intersection or crosswalk is prohibited.
Patrons interested in biking to Festival of the Vine can view a map of routes and parking options provided by the City’s Bike & Pedestrian Committee.
A law enforcement drone may be in use at times during the festival to support public safety by providing real-time aerial monitoring.
