[ARCHIVED] Geneva City Council To Consider New Ward Map

City News

The Geneva City Council will consider adopting a new ward boundary map during its Monday, Aug. 19 meeting.

The City’s current ward map was approved in 1996. Since then, Geneva has grown by nearly 5,000 people, creating wards that are no longer equal in population as required by the Illinois Municipal Code.

The proposed redistricting does recommend new boundary lines to even out the population for Geneva’s five wards. Two alderpersons will continue to represent each ward.

The Aug. 19 meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Geneva City Hall, 109 James St. and will be available to watch live on Geneva Broadcast Network (Comcast Ch. 10, MetroNet Ch. 93 and AT&T U-Verse Ch. 99) and the City’s YouTube channel.

Residents interested in running for a seat on the Geneva City Council during the 2025 consolidated election in April will be able to find candidate guides posted on the City’s website later this month.
