[ARCHIVED] Construction Resumes For Burlington, Fresh Thyme

City News

Construction activity resumed the week of April 2 for the future Burlington and Fresh Thyme Farmers Market stores in the Fabyan Crossing shopping center on Randall Road.

Burlington - formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory - is scheduled to be open for business in August while Fresh Thyme anticipates a January 2019 opening.

A legal dispute that halted the redevelopment of the vacant storefronts has been settled between property owners, according to Economic Development Director Cathleen Tymoszenko, who informed the Geneva City Council of the news April 2. The City was not part of the litigation.

Burlington and Fresh Thyme are redeveloping the former Dominick's grocery store property on Randall Road just north of Fabyan Parkway. As part of the redevelopment project, the tenants requested removing the visual obstructions created by the center's evergreen trees as part of a modernized plan for landscaping, signage and facades. Tree removal operations are near completion, and new landscaping will be planted at the shopping center in May, weather permitting. The Dominick's site has been closed since the chain went out of business in 2013.

The At Home Store also will be calling Fabyan Crossing home as the business remodels the former Gander Mountain store, which closed in 2017.
