[ARCHIVED] With Warmer Weather Approaching, City Offers Tips On How To Prevent Flooding

Temperatures are expected to rise during the next several days, and the forecast is calling for rain on Thursday, Feb. 20. These snow melting conditions increase the likelihood of potential flooding this week.

The City will be hauling large snow piles away from the downtown and cul-de-sacs, but residents can play a big role in preventing flooding by following these tips:

* Make sure downspouts are free of any ice.
* Make sure your sump pump is ice free and is able to discharge without any restrictions/obstructions.
* Check the battery on your back up sump pump to make sure it is properly charged.
* Clear the storm sewer drains near your property, if you're physically able to do so.

For more information, call the City's Public Works Department Call Public Works Department at 630-232-1501. You can also report any drainage issues to us online at the link below.
