[ARCHIVED] City Offers Repayment Plan For Overdue Utility Bills

Online Bill Pay

Geneva residential and commercial customers who have unpaid City utility bills will have an opportunity to bring their account balances current as part of a new repayment plan.

With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic earlier this year, the City voluntarily suspended water and electric disconnections for non-payment of utility bills and waived late payment penalties starting March 10.

The Geneva City Council approved a 12-month repayment plan to assist customers who have been unable to pay their utility bills in full. Customers are required to complete an online application form requesting enrollment in the repayment plan before Saturday, Nov. 21. The first payment will be due by Friday, Jan. 1, 2021.

Repayment plan notices will be mailed to all customers, landlords and property owners that have incurred past due balances since March.

All utility bills issued after Nov. 22 will be subject to late fees, which only will be assessed on bills going-forward and not on unpaid balances that are included in the repayment plan.

Geneva’s Public Works Department will resume water and electric disconnections starting in May 2021 for customers who do not participate or stay current with their plan payments.

For more information, the City has posted a repayment plan FAQs document on the City’s website. Questions can be directed to the City’s Finance Department by calling at 630-232-0854.
