The Geneva Fire Department responded to a call on Dec. 9 at Bar Technologies, 500 Fluid Power Drive.

911 callers stated that an employee had become entrapped in a piece of machinery. Fire personnel found the victim had been removed from the machine by plant employees prior to the arrival of the fire department.

The employee was treated at the scene by the Geneva Fire Department and then transported to Northwestern Delnor Hospital in Geneva. The employee was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m. Dec. 9 at the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation by the Geneva Police Department, Kane County Coroner and the U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration.

The Geneva Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the St. Charles and Batavia fire departments and the Geneva Police Department.
