Want to make a difference in your community but not sure where to start? The City of Geneva is looking for dedicated volunteers to fill vacancies on its Strategic Plan Advisory Committee and Cultural Arts Commission.
The Strategic Plan Advisory Committee is charged with prioritizing community goals outlined in the City’s strategic plan, encouraging citizen input and assisting with goal implementation. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. One seat is open.
The Cultural Arts Commission, a nine-member committee, promotes the arts in Geneva by sponsoring performing arts events, bringing public art to the community, and supporting local artists. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Two seats are open.
Residents interested in serving on this advisory board should submit an application along with a letter of interest to Mayor Kevin Burns, Geneva City Hall, 22 S. First St., Geneva, IL 60134. The envelope should include a reference to the specific advisory board being sought. The application deadline is Wednesday, May 4 for the Cultural Arts Commission and Sunday, May 15 for the Strategic Plan Advisory Committee.
Candidates must be residents living within the City's corporate boundary limits (see the City's Ward Map).
Mayor Burns will review all the applications and bring forward a nomination to the City Council this spring.
