[ARCHIVED] LRS Suspends Garbage Pickup Due To Weather

Lakeshore Recycling Systems Garbage Truck 2

Jan. 15 Update

LRS still is planning to conduct its original plan (outlined in the Jan. 13 News Release) for Friday customers who did not have their garbage, recycling and Christmas trees picked up Jan. 12 due to the weather. Residents who have already brought their garbage and recycling carts inside should keep them stored until their next regular pickup Friday, Jan. 19.

For customers who have not been able to bring in their carts inside due to the snow, LRS will attempt to swing through portions of the missed Friday collection zone the week of Jan. 15 after completing routes in other municipalities.

Regardless if an LRS truck goes down a street during the week, the company will conduct the entire Friday service route as normal Jan. 19 with the guidelines announced in the City’s Jan. 13 news release.

Geneva residents with Thursday garbage pickup should put their garbage out at the curb as normal (with necessary refuse stickers) Jan. 18.

Residents who have questions or concerns, or want to report a cart stuck in the snow, should contact LRS customer service by calling 844-633-3577 or emailing Service@LRSrecycles.com.

Jan. 13 News Release

Due to the heavy snow Jan. 12, LRS postponed its garbage and recycling operations mid-way through its Friday service route. As a result, some Geneva residents did not receive garbage/recycling pickup along with live Christmas tree collection.

LRS informed the City they could not complete the routes Jan. 13, and garbage and recycling carts should be brought in from the curb. LRS is advising residents who did not receive their typical service to hold onto their garbage, recycling and live Christmas trees until their next scheduled pickup day on Friday, Jan. 19.

Extra garbage bags will be removed without any refuse stickers Jan. 19 for Friday customers only. Free Christmas tree pickup also will be provided to Friday customers only next week.

Geneva residents who have Thursday service should continue to use refuse stickers as normal the week of Jan. 15, including on the disposal of live Christmas trees.

The City of Geneva apologizes for the disruption in service and inconvenience it caused residents. Questions can be directed to LRS customer service by calling 844-633-3577.

City offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 15 in honor of the MLK Day holiday. Normal business hours will resume Tuesday, Jan. 16. Garbage collection will occur on the City’s regular Thursday-Friday schedule the week of Jan. 15.
