[ARCHIVED] Route 25 Reopens To Traffic Following Water Main Project

Public Works News

The Route 25 water main project has been substantially completed, and the state highway has been reopened to traffic Jan. 17.

The City of Geneva had been working on the water main infrastructure project along the Route 25 corridor (North Bennett Street) since October 2023. The primary project involved installing a new water main on the state highway from State (Route 38) to Jefferson streets.

After pouring the final section of concrete the week of Jan. 8 and allowing the new surface time to cure, the barricades were removed at the State Street intersection and along the corridor Jan. 17. The detour signs on Fabyan Parkway, Kirk Road and Route 64 (St. Charles) will be collected later this week.

Additional sidewalk work, landscape restoration and miscellaneous punch list items are scheduled to be finished in the coming months.

The City appreciates the community’s patience during the past several months to complete this necessary infrastructure improvement. For more information, visit the Route 25 Water Main Project web page or call the Geneva Public Works Department at 630-232-1501.
