Residents interested in running for the Geneva City Council in 2025 can find a candidate guide on the City’s website.
The guide provides election information on how to file for candidacy, all required forms, and the newly approved City ward map. Seats for Mayor, City Clerk, Treasurer, and one seat in each of the City’s five aldermanic wards are open, all carrying four-year terms.
State law dictates a different method of calculating the required number of petition signatures after redistricting. All wards for this election now require the same minimum and maximum signatures. Previously, some of the City wards required less signatures than they do now. Full requirements are outlined in the candidate guide. The citywide seats of Mayor, City Clerk and Treasurer are not affected by the new state law.
Candidates can file petitions from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays from Tuesday, Nov. 12 to Friday, Nov. 15 at Geneva City Hall, 109 James St. Filing hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18.
The candidates will run in the April 1, 2025 Consolidated Election. For more election information, visit the Illinois State Board of Elections website.
