[ARCHIVED] Geneva Street Program - May 22 Update

City Road Construction

Geneva Construction, a City contractor, will be working on the 2025 Street Program, which includes resurfacing 19 residential roadways in the community. Additional improvements involve pavement patching on Third Street, reconstruction of the Hamilton Street parking lot, reconfiguration of James Street parking, updated pavement markings, and drainage repairs. A project map and list of locations are available online.

May 22 Update

The contractor poured new concrete May 22 along the Downtown Third Street west side parking lane near the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Niche Restaurant and the U.S. Post Office. The parking spaces will remain closed until the concrete has time to cure. The City anticipates reopening the parking spaces during the afternoon Friday, May 23.

All traffic lanes and intersections along South Third Street have been open since May 16 after a patching project from James to Campbell streets was completed.

Work will now turn to Lewis Road, where crews began digging near storm catch basins for grout replacement this week. Starting the week of May 26, the concrete curbs will be removed on Lewis Road from Peck to Kaneville roads. Once the concrete is removed, asphalt grinding will occur, which could be during the first week in June.

Crews will perform similar work along four side streets along that same stretch of Lewis Road, including Osprey Court, Old Mill Court, Peterson Court, and Heritage Court. Concrete removal will take place during the first week of June followed by asphalt grinding in the second week of the month.

Sidewalk and curb work and filling in roadway cracks will continue into mid-June.

The schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change.
