The City of Geneva will be replacing a water main near the Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital Health & Fitness Center. The contractor has been saw cutting some concrete since late July and plans to start the project the week of Aug. 11 after a few delays.
The improvements are designed to enhance water service reliability for the area. Fitness Center access will remain available during the project, though visitors should be mindful of contractors and operating equipment.
To help guide patrons, the City has published a detailed construction map on the project’s web page outlining where work will occur this summer. While the main driving lane in the Fitness Center parking lot will be open, other drive aisles may be temporarily closed. Certain sections of the parking lot may be blocked off to accommodate construction.
Delnor Drive will remain open, and access to other Northwestern Medicine campus buildings will not be impacted, even though construction equipment will be noticeable.
Water service to the Fitness Center is not expected to be disrupted, except when the new water main is connected to the building. The City will provide the hospital with advanced notice during this project phase.
Construction is anticipated to be substantially complete by mid-September, with the full project wrapping up later that month, weather permitting.
