With thousands of visitors expected to attend the Geneva Arts Fair later this month, the Geneva Police Department announced a portion of South Third Street will be closed during the festival.
The City of Geneva is serving as the presenting sponsor of this year’s Arts Fair, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 26-27, in the downtown.
To accommodate the event, parking on Third Street from James to South streets will be prohibited starting at 3 p.m. Friday, July 25. Parking also will be restricted on portions of the 200 and 300 blocks of Franklin Street nearest to Third Street. “No Parking” signage will be posted earlier in the day to notify downtown visitors. Vehicles remaining in the restricted area after 3 p.m. will be towed.
At 5 p.m., Third Street from James to South streets will be closed to traffic to allow artists to set up their tents.
A law enforcement drone may used during the fair to support to assist police and emergency management personnel with public safety through aerial monitoring.
South Third Street is expected to reopen to motorists by 8:30 p.m. July 27.
