[ARCHIVED] Second Nicor Gas Main Project Starts In July

Work In Progress Under Construction

Nicor Gas began a second natural gas main replacement project July 3 in Geneva, this time on the east side of the Fox River. The project is expected to be completed by late August, weather permitting.

The City has published a project web page detailing the various areas where Nicor will be working this summer. Construction and installation will be primarily completed through underground boring, however, some locations may require pavement cutting and road closures.

Nicor will mail flyers to impacted homes and businesses about the project. The work will require sewer line inspections, utility markings, and location identification for the new natural gas line and meter. After installation, Nicor will schedule an appointment with property owners to connect to the new infrastructure. Landscape restoration will occur following construction.

The east side work follows a larger gas main replacement project that began in May on Geneva's west side. That work is ongoing and expected to be finished by September or October, depending on weather conditions.

While the City of Geneva is sharing information with the public, the City has no authority or control over Nicor's work. The details shared by the City are only as good as the information provided to us by Nicor.
