The City's contractor, Geneva Construction, will be working on eight road resurfacing and drainage projects as part of the Geneva 2024 street program. Work began in mid-August and is expected to be completed in November, weather permitting. A map and project locations can be found online.
Oct. 8 Update
After the sidewalk and curb work has been completed, the East Side Drive road resurfacing project is scheduled to start Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Construction crews will be milling the pavement from State to Division streets for two days before paving operations commence later in the week. Work will continue Saturday, Oct. 12 and hopefully be substantially finished by Monday, Oct. 14.
While East Side Drive will remain open, the City is strongly encouraging motorists to avoid the area the next several days. Given the amount of construction equipment needed for the project, East Side Drive will be congested and produce traffic delays.
The Geneva Police Department will be providing a crossing guard for students at East Side and Geneva drives on Oct. 9. The City is attempting to complete the majority of the East Side Drive resurfacing project when school is not in session Oct. 10-14 to limit the inconvenience on parents and students.
The City posted an electronic message board on East Side Drive at Dodson Street to notify drivers of the upcoming construction.
All road construction is weather permitting and subject to change.
