How To Get Answers To Your Geneva Referendum Questions

Posted on February 2, 2026 at 5:10 PM by Kevin Stahr

After deciding to proceed with a public safety referendum in March, the City anticipated residents might have questions about this important community decision.

In fact, we encourage everyone to bring those questions to have them answered in person during a tour of the existing Police Station, a community open house, or both.

Police Station Tour

Residents can get a behind-the-scenes look at the existing Police Station at 20 Police Plaza this winter. Police Chief Eric Passarelli will serve as the tour guide to highlight the challenges Geneva's police officers face each day due to the limitations of the building. The City strongly encourages the public to come see the station for themselves.

Residents can register online to take a tour on weekdays (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday), Wednesday evenings, or select Saturdays through election day March 17. Special requests will be accommodated on an as-needed basis by calling the Geneva Police Department at 630-232-4736.

Open Houses

If you missed our announcement last week, the City's Strategic Plan Advisory Committee will be hosting a series of referendum open houses in February at the Geneva Public Library, 227 S. Seventh St. The first session will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4.

This is a great opportunity for Geneva residents to speak with City staff at informational stations about the current Police Station and the proposed future facility. Representatives from the Geneva Police Department, along with subject matter experts in architecture, finance, and project management, will be available to answer questions. Residents are encouraged to RSVP online so the City can plan the open house space accordingly. The RSVP form may also be used to submit questions to the City in advance of the open house sessions.

For those who cannot attend this week, mark your calendars for additional open houses later this month.
